Simple X-Ray Diffractometer Control SystemFlexible and inexpensive solution for automation of wide variety of old X-ray diffractometers and other devices, containing stepping motors, relay elements and binary sensors, as end switches. It may be delivered as a complete system with SCSD-4 scintillation detector. Other types of devices, including high voltage generator, may be incorporated on request.
The SUR-1 system contains USB microprocessor controller inside a power driver block assembled in 19" 3U rack. The controller is capable of driving up to 14 devices. The device types may be stepping motors (SM) (2, 4, 5, or 6 phase), detectors, angle encoders, arrays of up to 8 relay elements (RE) as shutters, relays, etc. Other device types may be included on request. The system operates under Windows of a current version. Configuration of the system is interactive, one can create and describe new devices in configuration dialog box. Each device requires a power drive (PD) card in the power rack. This makes the system easy to expand. Original software RDPW (Radicon Device Programming Workbench) has an own script (macros) editor, what makes it very flexible (see screenshot below). We ensure the integration of the software for goniometer control and SCSD-4 detector (DET) in a single package, which gives a complete solution for automation of diffractometer. More than one controller may be used for expansions, if necessary.
For SM's the system supports the following features:
For RE's the system supports:
For DET's the system supports
For angle encoders (AE) the system supports
For the protection the system supports
Specification of SUR-1 system for the X-ray diffractometers DRON-3/4
The higher-level software RDPW enables the user to write and run the command scripts, or macros, specific to his problem to be solved. An access to detector controller may be incorporated in the script language too, which is useful if one runs both devices in the same experimental set. Software provides accumulation of experimental data with real-time visual control and writing them to ASCII files, from which they can be treated by appropriate separate software. The controller and the higher-level software are not dependent on the type of the SM used. But appropriate power voltages and PD cards should be installed into the power rack. Modular power supply in the power rack is compact and easily reconfigurable for other device types. Any combination of 5, 12, 24 and 48V is available. Other voltages - on request. 125W module has dimensions 95x25x135 mm.
