Design:
 
SCSD-4 consists of two blocks:

  • detector head, containing 2 mm thick scintillation NaI(Tl) crystal in assembly with beryllium 24 mm diameter entrance window, photomultiplier, remote-controlled high-voltage converter, preamplifier, pulse-forming circuits, amplitude discriminator, output amplifier;

  • control block, plugging into IBM PC AT COM port (or Ethernet - by the order), containing microprocessor controller and sound monitor.

Detector heads are produced in two versions: for using in open air and in vacuum chambers. Vacuum variant has vacuum-tight housing, inner part of which is connected with atmosphere via two flexible tubes. The detector head has a 15-pin SUB-D cable connector.

Software:

The control software SCSW operates under Windows of current version. It includes: microprocessor loadable program, SCSW server, containing communication and control subroutines, DLL library for data/command interchange between the server and user application program, sample user application program, supplied together with the source codes to help the user in creation of his own applications. Software has nice and friendly user interface, controls up to eight SCSD-4 devices running simultaneously, supports three basic measurement modes, single and cycle measurements, comprises SPECTRUM utility aimed to optimize quickly the detector settings. Modifications of software are available on consumer request.
