X-ray Ratemeter IR-2 X-ray Ratemeter IR-2 is intended for the X-ray beam intensity measurement. Its a combination of a scintillation detector head, a control block and can be used for registration of X-ray beam as a part of various X-ray instruments, e.g. X-ray diffractometers. X-ray Ratemeter provides visual evaluation of X-ray beam intensity via pointer indicator. X-ray Ratemeter can operate both manual and computer control mode.

Instrument components X-ray
Ratemeter consists from a detector block and a control block, connected
by a low voltage cable of 1.5 m length.
Detector block SCSD-4 includes a NaI(Tl) scintillation crystal,
photomultiplier (PMP),
driver amplifier,
amplitude discriminator, high voltage supply. Control
block includes AC/DC converter, ratemeter card with a channel of audio
presentation, control elements, pointer indicator, connectors, LED
indicator.
Arrangement and operation of Ratemeter
Detector block SCSD-4 converts X-rays to electrical pulses of TTL level. Control
block allows the changing of PMP voltage, lower and upper thresholds for
the operation with different wavelengths of X-rays. The switch
"Window/Integral" turnes off the upper threshold. Control block is
adjusted for CuK-alpha radiation and a definite detector block before
delivery to a customer. A user can adjust the Ratemeter himself for
another radiation or for another detector block from Radicon Ltd. Rotary
wafer switch and potentiometer "Range, cps" selects the amplidude range
of a
pointer indicator. A potentiometer scale has an approximate view.
Rotary wafer switch "Time constant, sec" dumps out the oscillations of a
pointer indicator on a low intensity ranges.
Potentiometer "Volume" controls the audio presentation. The
switch "Man/PC" swithes a mode of operation: manual or from a personal
computer. The
software and a dynamic library are delivered as an option.
